Interesting photo, it has an old-fashioned feeling to it (definitely not a bad thing). I wonder if the feeling and the quality come from the fact that it was shot on film rather than digital.

Location
This photo was taken in the city of Bergamo, located about 20 miles northeast of the city of Milan, in north of Italy.Time
The time of day that the photo was taken was early afternoon in a cool day of September of 1980Lighting
The day this photo was shot it was a partly cloudy day, the location was one of the main street of the city which has trees on both side of the road. The light was natural light and it was filtering into the street from the branches of fall trees.Equipment
The camera used at the time was a manual Nikon FM with an original 105 mm optical lent. I was standing at a street corner few hundred feet from the subject and I was holding the camera in my hands.Inspiration
It just happen that I was taking photos of everyday life of regular people living in the town. While observing people, I noticed two old man walking on that street, one coming towards me and one going the opposite direction. I was captivated by the man in the photo by the natural slow and firm walk with two boxes in his hands. The clothes, the age, the white beard the hat and the glasses kind of fit together with everything around. I took several pictures as the man was walking towards me and only after I develop the film I realized the overall beauty and significance of those shots.Editing
Nothing special was done during processing the film.In my camera bag
I have been a Nikon man all of my life, I started to take photographs long before the digital age and always trusted the quality and reliability of the Nikon brand. It took me long time to switch from traditional film to digital and even now I still miss the traditional method, the dirty hands, the smell of the acids and the flexibility that manual developing allows to have, even if noways 'Photoshop' is mainstream among professional and non professional photographer.Feedback
Italy if full of unique and exclusive images of its people that can be captured in many ways. I have traveled around the world, taking 1000's of photographs of everyday life and of people in their daily activities, however in Italy even the average tourist can find a unique angle and character of simple things. This was a unique occasion, a once in a lifetime moment that I had to capture it. I was blessed and very lucky to be able to capture this photo which was not staged, planned or set up, it just happen. Just be ready if it happens to you too. Good luck.
