How long did he last out there ;-)
... mind you, I'd also be incredibly intrigued for a better look - with a camera - yup, foolhardy! ;-))
GREAT shot! :-)))

Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taken at Camp Leatherneck, in Helmand Province Afghanistan.

Time

Around Mid-Day

Lighting

I find natural lighting to be the best when it comes to 90% of my shots. Even if I do have a model in front of the lens you will see me reflect natural light as opposed to setting up a flash umbrella.

Equipment

Canon EOS 6D, EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, Shot by hand.

Inspiration

I was in Afghanistan for 6.5 years with the Marines. If they weren't up against some foe they were up against the elements. I really felt that showing the Marine standing tall while a GIANT wall of dust and debris is moments away was a good way to show their struggles.

Editing

Minor tweaks with Lightroom to the contrast and removing color cast. Other than that it's pretty straightforward.

In my camera bag

My "go bag" if you will of photo equipment usually does not consist of much. I typically carry a Dolica Proline GX Series 60-Inch Aluminum Tripod and Ball Head, My Canon EOS 6D, a GoPro Hero 3 with wrist and head accessories, and a monopod, a Samsung Galaxy Note Tablet (for hands free shooting using the EOS Remote App paired with the 6D's Wifi Function). Lenses that I carry are: -A 50 mm auto focus lens that I got off of Amazon for like 50 bucks (one of my FAVORITE lenses) -Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM -Canon EF 75-300mm Zoom -Canon EF 100mm USM Macro Lens

Feedback

Carry your camera everywhere. 85% of my shots wouldn't be possible if I didn't always have my camera on me. The second you leave it at the house, it's too late! For every outing I go on without my camera, I miss thousands of possible shots. You can only regret the photos that you didn't take.
