Location
I took this at an airshow in Martinsburg, WV. In this shot is the Air Force Thunderbirds in formation. I'm a self taught hobby photographer.Time
This photo was taken in the afternoon.Lighting
We were hosting an Italian teacher visiting with students. We thought it would be fun to take them to an airshow. It was one of the highlights of his visit. It was sunny when we arrived, but as the airshow progressed it became more cloudy, which I thought was great. The Thunderbirds went at the end and I think many of my shots with the cloud background turned out pretty good. So as far as lighting, it was natural sunlight and the clouds diffused the sunlight giving a more subtle glow.Equipment
I used a Canon Rebel T3 with a Canon Zoom lens EF 70-300mm.Inspiration
I enjoy the challenge of many subjects and an airshow is fun to follow the aircraft and capture them in unique formations.Editing
I typically reduce the left side of the histogram, which I think brings out detail. And I increase the saturation and color temperature slightly. In my camera bag
I just recently upgraded to a Canon Rebel T6i and I usually carry a zoom lens. I also recently purchased an L series 24-70mm lens, which I'm using a lot now.Feedback
I think for this shot a sturdy stance and it's good to follow the aircraft and anticipate an upcoming shot. For example, you should be able to see the aircraft coming from a distance and as they approach merely follow them. I generally have a philosophy of taking many photos. You have a high probability of capture some good shots. I sometimes use the continuous shooting mode.
