I always knew there were little creatures in the fridge. Great concept and execution in shot.

Location
From the inside of my fridge!Time
It was late evening. The wife was at Zumba and the kids in bed, and I was bored...Lighting
The ambient light from the fridge wasn't too great, so I put an SB700 in a portable softbox on the shelf below, pointing up.Equipment
It was a Nikon D5100 I think, and a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8, triggered by remote. The lens hood of the Tokina propped the camera up and kept it steady. Additional light was provided by an off camera SB700 in a portable softbox.Inspiration
I had been joking for a while that my children's toys were out to get me. Whenever I came downstairs or turned a corner there was always something there to trip me up. I wanted to do a series of photos to demonstrate this, but from a different perspective. The idea of going to a fridge and finding something in there (Zuul?) and then capturing that awkward moment when both subjects wonder what to do next tickled me.Editing
I measured the exposure manually, so I was pretty happy with that aspect. I did the usual profile corrections in Lightroom and then ran a couple of effects / brushes in Perfect Effect 4.In my camera bag
I mostly shoot sport, so I have 2 camera bodies (Nikon D7100 and Nikon D90) plus a Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 and Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8, as well as a Nikon SB700 and my trusty folding stool! Plus, it's always worth taking a couple of lens cloths for when it rains! One day I hope to make the step up to professional camera bodies...Feedback
Think of a theme, think of a moment, a punchline and visualise it. The whackier and more surreal the better. Go for a unique perspective or point of view. Getting a camera into a shelf and arranging a scene in front of it takes a bit of patience, but the results can be so worth it!
