Location
This photo was taken from my apartment window in New Jersey.Time
It was just about sun down when I took it, maybe 5:00 or 6:00 when the sun was setting.Lighting
The lighting is all natural. I wanted to take a sunset shot but I know directing your sensor towards the sun is bad for it so I turned off to the right some.Equipment
I shot this on a compact DSLR believe it or not. The Pentax X-5, nothing extra, just my hands and the camera.Inspiration
Spontaneousness? Ha ha, I know it's not a word but I hadn't taken a photo in a while and I was thinking about one of my favourite 'Slice of Life Anime's' called, 'Kids On the Slope'.Editing
I did actually, the only post-processing I did was too darken it a little to silhouette the buildings. I also boosted the vibrance to make the orange pop and appear a little dramatic. Then I added a old time filter that added light scratches to the photo, plus a read streak, I guess as a "flare for the dramatics".In my camera bag
Back then, just my Pentax X-5 and 5th gen iPod touch, I wanted to do photography so bad, I actually started out with a Side Kick phone, it was like 2 mega pixels, I wanna say. I've moved up to a Canon 70-D with two kit lenses, I normally know exactly what I want to shoot so what goes with me is thought out before hand, lens filters and such.Feedback
For a photo like this one? Be spontaneous I suppose. For photos like most of my others because I know a good amount of mine are spontaneous but for ones like my others, just look at everything you like, stuff you love, you know? Maybe you like a TV show or movie and see lighting you like or even a cartoon action pose, go replicate it but don't push for it, capture its essence? I dunno, I'm just a 21 going on 22 year old kid with a camera.
