Behind The Lens

Location

I love Melbourne's streets. This was taken in Flinders Lane and was the perfect backdrop to set the mood on this magical wedding day.

Time

I remember the late afternoon light was just right, hitting the buildings on just the right angles and casting shadows in just the right places.

Lighting

Overcast lighting was perfect for this shot... not too harsh.

Equipment

I also used a video light off to the left just to fill the foreground a little as we were standing close to buildings and their faces were in quite a bit of shadow.

Inspiration

Capturing love and mood excites me. And shooting from a lower angle lets me get the best of Melbourne too.

Editing

A little desaturation, darkening and vignetting worked wonders for this photo.

In my camera bag

My Canon 5d mkii is my weapon of choice. I love my 24-70 2.8 and 50mm 1.4. But my favorite lens is my 70-200 2.8. A flash is a must for me and can't go without my extention tubes... they come in so handy.

Feedback

Getting the shot is one thing. Spend time getting the expressions right... but the entire mood is created in post production. Be patient when editing. Try new techniques and you will love the results.
