Great photo! Love the live action photo and how wonderful the light is on her lunch.

Location
This photo was taken in the forested hills surrounding Petaluma, California.Time
This photo was taken in the late afternoon, before the birds started retiring to the taller trees for the night. On my walk, I spotted this wren perched in a tree. I usually carry a camera with me when I walk (I have learned to be prepared at all times, should a possible shot arise) and this shot was taken, among a few others. This photo was taken exactly at 5:11 p.m. on April 27, 2014.Lighting
The lighting was exactly perfect and typical of the hour. The clouds on the horizon towards sunset focused the sunlight more and was an essential quality of this photo.Equipment
I used my Canon EOS Rebel t3i and my Canon 75-300mm EF Lens. No flashes or tripods were used in this shot.Inspiration
This photo was not inspired, but was taken on the spur of the moment. I noticed how beautiful the light was on this wren and the insect, and I decided that I couldn't miss it.Editing
Some post-processing was completed, but nothing was done to severely alter this photo. I edited the raw file, sharpening the image (only a little), clearing up some chromatic aberration, changing the contrast, and changing the white balance. In my camera bag
I absolutely love my Canon EOS Rebel t3i and I have taken some very good shots with it. My Canon 75-300mm EF Lens is also very useful. I also carry my Canon Compact-Macro 50mm EF lens. I typically pack a lens hood, my black, white, and grey white balance cards, some Vivitar filters, and a tripod. Although my equipment is not exactly state-of-the-art and up-to-date, I have learned to make do with what I have and I find that it gets the job done.Feedback
I highly recommend clothing that hides your presence (camouflage), as this birds can be highly observant and shy. Use the "golden hour", as I did here, to produce the lighting. Also, remember that patience is essential, and try to have as much of it when as you possibly can to increase your chances of capturing a special moment.
