Behind The Lens
Location
This spectacular capture was taken in Northern California on the Fourth of July 2012 during the City/Neighborhood fireworks display.Time
The photo was snapped in the evening during the hours between 8pm—10pm.Lighting
The evening was a typically dark enough night for fireworks to be clearly seen. The shutter speed was set on the night time mode. And the results were gratifying to say the least.Equipment
A Nikon D90 was used along with a Samsung 70-300 mm Auto-Zoom Lens mount, night time mode setting and NO TRIPOD.Inspiration
The love of experimenting with different settings on the camera while photographing Lights is very rewarding. The challenge to go 'beyond the expected' to create something unique and special is what photography is all about. The camera satisfies that need of self-expression through practice and manipulation and more practice.Editing
The photo was most striking under its own weight. However, a very 'small' amount of saturation was used to get the effect seen.In my camera bag
A Nikon D90, a Samsung 70-300mm Auto-Zoom Lens and a Nikon 35-70mm Auto Zoom Lens.Feedback
Having a really quality camera is paramount with a fast shutter speed. A decent Lens with Vibration Reduction or Image Stabilization, a tremendous amount of patience, a quick eye and steady hands.
