Location
The photo was taken in Zvejniekciems beach, Latvia. One of the most rockiest and most beautiful beaches of Latvia.Time
Photo was taken just after the sunset. when it's not to dark and not too light.Lighting
No artificial lightning was used but the perfect moment to capture stars and some some sunset leftovers is just about some 20 minutes after the sunset.Equipment
I used Canon 5d Mark II and Russian fisheye for old film cameras - Zenitar 16mm f2.8 _ m42 adapter for Canon.Inspiration
I love taking night pictures and Zvejniekciems beach is one of my favorite beaches. I had just bought zenitar fisheye and i wanted to test it in proper enviroment and i got lucky because of the weather, clear skies and slight wind. that probably was the only clear night that month. And the magical thing about long exposure night shots is that in a single photo there''s a motion, feeling and peacefullness combined and it looks surreal, you just cant find that magic anywhere else.Editing
Yes i do usualy to adjust brightness, fix some colors and sharpness , i prefer photos that are more natural. In my camera bag
Depends on the case. For this occasion i had my tripod, 5d Mark II, 50 mm f1.4 and Zenitar fisheye. I had no need to bring anything else.Feedback
Star photos are very interesting because anything can change with in seconds. If you have a bright lens and a camera with good iso levels there should be no problems. For example for this kind of photo you need to make exposure not long that 15 second because the earth is turning and star dont stand still. So what you wanna do is open the aperature and turn up Iso . And make the shot exposure as short as posible and you will get stars steadier and with less motion trails. For this shot I used 15 second exposure on aperature f 2.8.
