Taken on the 4th last year down by the river with a 400mm in the shade. Going back in the morning. On the 4th.

Nikon D90 with a 400 mm hand held.Inspiration
I was trying to catch it with as large of a file size as possible.Editing
I increased the definition and tweaked the vibrancy.In my camera bag
Now a Nikon D800 with the VR 80 to 400 mm. and the Nikon D90 with a VR 18 to 195Feedback
Work to first find the subject and make sure to position yourself so the background is what you are looking for first. In this case I was in the river and had a nice dark shadow background and enough light on the subject to get what I was looking for. Do not be afraid to take plenty of shots while experimenting. Sit and wait for as long as you need to for the Dragon fly to wonder what you are and look right at you. I always wear Camo for the other animals but do not think it helps for shots like this one.
