Location
This photo was shot during Maryland's Preakness Balloon Glow Festival held the evening before the Preakness Race. I was shot at the Howard County Fair Grounds in May 2013Time
Photo was shot approx pm when the balloons were scheduled to fire and glow simultaneouslyLighting
The light was the Blue HourEquipment
This was shot with a Nikon D300s on a tripod no flash using a rokinon 8mm fisheye 3.5fInspiration
i love taking long exposure night shots, and the preakness balloon glow is an even i try to shoot every year ..weather pending, balloons won fire/glow if its too windy, or raining.Editing
I used photoshop CS6 topaz adjustment filter and light room 5In my camera bag
I carry in my bag my NIKON D500 AND NIKON D750. My favorite lenses are my tamaron 8mm 3.5f fisheye, tokina 10-22 f2.8 wide angle i also carry 2 pistol grip tripod heads both manfrotto, i also use a nikon 70mm-200mm 2.8f lens for action events, i have a nikon 50mm 1.8f and a 17-300mm zoom 3.5f, and mirror refex lens.As well as moon and star filters for lonf exposures and star trails. I also mostly shoot for HDR for indoor shots. , using NIK/photomatix, bc the main focus of my photography is architectural history, focusing on abandoned and buildings being ready to be demolished. I rarely if ever use a flash.Feedback
Patience/timing and unique angles. Timing is especially important during baloon glows bc it is very hard and rare that the baloons all fire up at the same time.
