Location
This shot was taken up by Snoqualmie pass in Washington State.Time
It was nearing the evening hour and I was getting ready to leave the area to head home.Lighting
The color of the stream is coming from the sun that had just decided to make its appearance as the day was coming to a close as I was looking through my lens for the right composition, this image hit my viewfinder and I was super excited.Equipment
This was shot with my Nikon D300 with the Nikon 18-200 VR lens, no other equipment was used.Inspiration
I always love going up to the mountains and love getting photos of the snow along the streams up there, but when the sun decided to peak out just as evening was approaching and this view came into my viewfinder......well, you just cant pass that up.Editing
I always throw all my pictures in Lightroom mainly because I shoot in RAW and need to change it over to jpeg, but I usually do some small little tweaks with exposure and make sure the image is level, and maybe do a little cropping to make sure the rule of thirds is fairly close to right. In my camera bag
The question is what don't I have in my bag.........lol I have had people with me ask if I have the kitchen sink in there too. In my Lowepro slingshot 300 AW bag, I have my camera body, either Nikon D300, Nikon D40, or my Nikon Z50. Lens's are Nikkor 18-200mm VR, Sigma 10-20mm, Nikkor 50mm, Sigma 105mm macro. Lens cleaners, spare batteries, chargers, filters, gloves, kleenex, flash, tums, tylenol, and an emergency thermal blanket which has been used to put down to keep from laying in wet mucky ground. I also carry a tripod with me but usually never use it.Feedback
With a shot like this it has to do with the right place at the right time. This day the sun was shinning down in the city but when we go up to the mountain it was very gray and overcast looking, but just as we were leaving the sun made its appearance. So I guess I would have to say, just always be on the lookout for those lovely little surprises that happen in nature. Just watch the weather and be waiting for the right time.
