Great eye for composition. With this great tight depth of field you turned the entire background into a canvas. This dude looks to be asking. "What the hell you looking at chump?" LOL. Great shot.

Location
I took this in Ottawa, CanadaTime
It was mid morning I believe.Lighting
It was mid January and the sky was overcast which for me is the best light for outdoor photography.Equipment
Equipment used that morning was my Canon 40D and Canon 400 5.6 lens. I had this setup on my tripod since the hawk owl was static and my lens is a non IS lens. No flash was used.Inspiration
I love the outdoors and wildlife, so on this cold January morning I had heard that there was a hawk owl in the west end of the city so not having ever seen one I set out to go look for it.Editing
My post processing is pretty standard and quick. I shoot in raw format so once I've downloaded my images and have picked out a few highlights I do the basic noise reduction (if any) add a bit of saturation if needed and use unsharp mask then save as a jpg. I might spend 5-10 minutes per photoIn my camera bag
I carry my Canon 70-200 2.8 lens, a Canon 100 2.8 macro in case I find some interesting insects or flowers. Usually I'll also carry my Canon 24-105 f4 lens if a awesome landscape shot catches my eye. Insect repellent of course, bottle of water, extra cards and batteries.Feedback
The only advice I can think of is patience, wildlife photography is patience and try try again.
