Location
This photo was taken in Sedona, Arizona.Time
Shot was taken about 2:00 in the afternoon with the sun to my back.Lighting
It was simply a beautiful day and I'm glad I was there to capture it.Equipment
Nikon D50 with a very cheap Tokina 28-210 lens with a polarizing filter.Inspiration
We were driving along a mountain road and were presented with this view. I pulled the car over to the shoulder or the road, used the roof of the car as a tripod and took this shot.Editing
Post processing in PhotoShop CS5. I wasnt happy with the color of the rocks in the raw image and used a saturation layer to get it as close as I could to what I saw on that day. The polarizing filter is what I attribute the super blue sky to.In my camera bag
My Normal Bag of tricks usually includes a Nikon D7000, Nikon 50mm F1.4, Nikon 35mm F1.8, Sigma 105mm F2.8 and a sigma 50-500mm F4-6.3 and a YN568 speed light. This is my standard bag and seems to cover just about any shooting situation I run into.Feedback
I have seen many photos of this very same site and the only advice I can offer is when the opportunity presents its self take it. The clouds are very rare once you get that far north and to get that mixed with the sun lighting up the rocks is a real treat.. :-)
