Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken outdoors, where the trees provide more interesting shadows and contrasts

Time

At around 10 am, when the sun is not yet at it's brightest, and the shadows are longer and less sharp.

Lighting

When trying to reflect negative emotion, I tend to use darker environments which create greater mood. I also find that backlighting is not very suitable for these images.

Equipment

Canon 4000D, hand held, no other equipment

Inspiration

No greater inspiration than our current societies are required for negative emotion images. There are far too many people left to suffer, unaided or separated from warm and caring environments.

Editing

I use Snapseed to enhance this image. The HDR and Vintage features are both ideally suited for these images.

In my camera bag

Two cameras, small tripod, and various filters. I don't tend to carry other lenses as my second camera is a bridge camera.

Feedback

Don't worry about a lack of light, an excess is far more damaging for this type of image. And, patience with your model, expressing emotions is a lot harder than you may think.
