Location
The photo was taken in Wrightstown, Wisconsin.Time
I believe the time of day was mid afternoon.Lighting
It was a gray kind of day, which actually worked to my benefit. Didn't have the glaring sun and major shadows to deal with. A perfect day for shooting.Equipment
I shoot with a Canon 7D, 75-200mm lens. I was able to hand hold it which made it easier to capture.Inspiration
I absolutely love eagles. To see these majestic creatures soaring in the air, wingspans of up to 6 feet, but then so delicately be able to land among a tree cluttered with branches. I am in awe when I am out shooting eagles. Honestly, I was out on this particular day, watching this pair of eagles for 6 hours. Seemed like only an hour to me. I thought it was getting ready to take flight, but it stayed in this position for quite some time looking for food. This, by far, is my favorite eagle photo. Shooting eagles is what gets me through the long winter months.Editing
I didn't do much with it other than sharpening it a bit and getting the contrast just right. In my camera bag
I usually carry multiple lenses in my bag. A Canon 75-300L, a Canon 150-400L, a 50mm and a 100mm. Right now I am waiting for my new lens to arrive, the Tamron 150-600mm. Only wish I could afford the Canon 800mm L-series.Feedback
Find an area, where eagles or whatever you are trying to capture, and get comfortable. Dress in layers, be patient, take lots of photos and most of all, have fun. All of these are what helped me to capture my favorite photo.
