Thanks for your comment, it changed my views on mobile phones as cameras, I was a died in the wool DSLR man , eg how can a phone with such a small sensor compete with a Full frame camera.

Location
This was taked at The Turquise Lake near banff, Canada. it was on a bus trip from Vanvouver to Jasper, we had been there quite a long time, some of the group took a walk around the lake. There had been clear blue skys when we arrived , I know it was getting cold waiting for all the walkers to come back and my jacket was locked in the bus.Time
It must must have been around 5, 5-30pm and cold . WE were supposed to visit The Morraine Lake but the roads were still closed by snow, and this was mid May.Lighting
I loved the lighting, the Turquoise lake turning orange/red at sunsetEquipment
This was taken on an old iphone 7, nothing elseInspiration
The lighting itself plus the location, were incredible i took a few hundred shots during the day in the surrounding areaEditing
Nothing much required doing I probably tweaked the shadows and a slight increase in contrast, I almost always use the Haze slider. In my camera bag
Although this was taken with my phone, I had locked my camera bag inside the bus thinking i was more or less finished for the day, the driver had accompanied those walking around the lake. I have 2 bodies a Canon 5D mk 4 as my prime, my second body ive changed it would have been either a 6D , a 6D mk2 or an 80D. I prefer the quality from the full frame but like the magnification when using the 80D (which ive kept) with my favourite lens the 100-400 is Canon mk2 along with the mk3 1.4 extender . I had previously. the Tamron 150-600 G2 which is exceptional value for money. The mk 2 80-200 F2.8 which is the zoom ALL others are compared to I tend to use the F4 version now just because of the weight and my age. About another 10 various lenses The Sigma 24mm f1.4 my latest. I have 2 Lowpro bags 1 to carry everything just in case , and the slightly smaller one still big enough for 2 bodies 4 lenses for what I actually need for the day. a variety of tripods The old manfroto aluminium heavy duty , and a much lighter carbon version , plus a carbon traveller all Manfroto. Canon flash and another . A whole range of Filters 100mm with holders a mix of Brands Nisi and lee, always lens wipes and cloths , blower brush LOTS of spare batteries for Everything and spare memory cards . I like to use a different card for each day, then download to my laptop and seperate hard drive. I always have 3 copies (just in case) I shoot in Raw on 1 card and "jpeg" on the other in the 5D mk4. Raw in the 80D. During the day i use graduated grey filters a lot, you can never recover burned out highlights !Feedback
The old adage always have a camera with you, all my cameras were locked in a bus , so i used my phone for this shot. Ive since because of the quality of this shot upgraded to the iphone 13, I have to say I was a Camera phone SNOB previously, I could not imagine getting quality from the tiny processor that I could get from my full frame canon. I make A3 prints with no problem from my phones memory, . I travel a LOT or did mobilty now a problem, but the best light is early morning say on an African safari then the Golden hour, it goes for any photograph really so up at 4/5am giving time to tavel to wherever your going. In Namibia we wanted to get to Deadvlie just as the sun was rising, so we left at 3.30 am it's a long drive then walk, It was strange to see so many cars/busses aparently racing each other to be their first so early. Then if your going to Iceland to photograph the "lights" you may be waiting a Loooong time in the freezing cold only the cloud cover is obscuring the lights anyway, Ive been twice for a week and been unlucky twice not a glimmer of the lights, so Patience and perseverance are definite requirements . We dont control mother natures light, do as much pre planning as you can. eg weather forcasts , tide times, sun spot action etc. where will you be when the sun does come out, will you be in the right place ??
