Location
This photo was taken at Badbury Clumps, EnglandTime
This was taken at sunrise, although there was a lot of fog rolling in you can't quite tell how early it is!Lighting
With there being fog I wanted to make sure I was shooting towards the sun, so that the fog would be backlit. In this instance I also overexposed the image to get even more seperation between the tree trunks.Equipment
This was an Sony A7iv with the Sigma 24-70mm Art shot at 70mm focal length and f2.8.Inspiration
It was bluebell season in the UK, which means you only get a 3 week window every year to catch them. I really wanted to get a decent woodland shot with the bluebells and I had been tracking the weather for fog. Once I noticed it was going to be foggy at sunrise at that location, I got up super early to get there for an hour before sunrise. Once the fog rolled in, I was experimenting and playing with different compositions until some other people turned up and started wandering around (the guy in the photo!) and I managed to get him in it.Editing
Not much this time. There was no alterations to the image at all, this is just tone and colour adjustments straight from raw!In my camera bag
Usually have my camera and three lenses. Sony A7iv, a 20mm prime, 24-70mm and a 100-400mm. I also make sure I always have a tripod for low-light/long exposure and my filters (NDs, Polariser and an ND Grad)Feedback
Checkout your local woodlands and learn how to spot the signs for fog the next day (a clear night, the right temperature) and then get all your equipment ready for an early morning! It's all about trying to capture the right conditions, and in this case it was the appearance of bluebells and fog!
