This is a Mountain Violet-ear or also called a Lesser Violetear. It is a medium sized Hummingbird that is metallic green in color with a metallic blue-green tail and violet ear patches on the sides of it's neck. The male and female are similar in color, however the males "ears" are more pronounced. I believe this is a female. This specie is usually found in forested areas from Costa Rica to northern South America.

Aww...thank you!! Catching these little guys in my photo is probably one of the hardest shots I have attempted....they move so, so fast!! And, it was a double bonus to get the wings almost stopped and a tail flare...I was thrilled! The Hummers in Costa Rica are so colorful...it was a treat to watch and photograph them!!
