High Tech Photo Contest Winners

Thank you to all the photographers that shared their best photos showing the power of technology in the High Tech Photo Contest with chances to win an amazing bundle!

I chose the following images based on the following:

1. Photographic merit (composition, lighting, post production)

2. Emotive response - favouring images with a concept.

3. Success at meeting the brief - A view of today's technology through the lens. This was an area where many of the images fell flat as they were looking at historical technology.

A special thanks to friend and professional photographer Jon Reid for his collaboration as a guest judge: "I first took a camera with me on a trip, it was to share this emotion with others. Without changing the truth of a scene, I try capture it at its most magical, waiting for the atmosphere to best compliment the scene. Photography has become a way for me to communicate the awe and curiosity I experience when exploring the world. "A few key factors make this image powerful - the first is the subject matter, CERN, the leading edge of technology. Second, the person included not only shows the scale, but almost gives a feeling of showing technology dwarfing humans. Finally, the black and white treatment takes out any warmth there may have been in the scene, giving it a menacing feel." - Jon Reid
