I took this picture in Lone Elk Park in St Louis, MO. It's a drive through wildlife park but there are areas for picnics and hiking.Time
This was taken mid day and I'm really surprised I got to see this guy out in the trees as they are nocturnal animals. We usually only see them at sunset scavenging in the garbage cans by the picnic areas.Lighting
It was a pretty sunny day so I just used natural light and adjusted it in Lightroom a bit.Equipment
This photo was taken with my Canon Powershot SX30 IS and I was hanging out the car window as far as I could get.Inspiration
I am at this park a lot taking pictures of the wildlife there. There are not many places like this to go in St Louis, MO where you can see wild animals. This is what I like to shoot most often.Editing
I did minimal post-processing in Lightroom. I cropped it and played with the light, clarity, and sharpness features until I thought it looked best...I don't usually do a lot of processing mostly because I like natural photos and also I'm just learning Lightroom. In my camera bag
At the time I took this picture I just carried the Canon PowerShot SX30 IS...easy to just put it in your purse and it's a good little camera. I've since traded that in on a Canon Rebel SL1 and I carry an 18-55mm and a 55 -250mm lens and some lens filters.Feedback
Sometimes it's a matter of being at the right place at the right time and always have your camera with you because you never know when a raccoon will be out during the day for you to photograph.
