This was a headshot of Trinity taken in my studio. We were working with different lighting techniques this day for black and white photography.Time
This was in the evening in studio.Lighting
The key light in this photo was an Alien Bee b800 in a 40” octabox. A second light was directly behind the subject. This was a Godox speed light. Godox wireless triggers were used to trigger the flashes.Equipment
This photo was taken with a Nikon Z6 and an 85mm f 1.4 sigma lens.Inspiration
I’ve always been fascinated with noir photography. I was feeling inspired by headshot of movie stars from the 50’s.Editing
This image was post processed in Lightroom. Some skin smoothing and the black and white effect were added there. In my camera bag
Nikon z6 Sigma Art Series Lenses 85, 50, 35 and 105 macro lens. Speed lights for added lighting and one small soft box. Grids and color gels for lighting effects. I love to do as much in camera as possible to keep post processing to a minimum.Feedback
Get out and shoot. Allow yourself to make mistakes. Successes never teach us much. Don’t delete bad photos. You can always look back at them and realize what went wrong and remember how you corrected it. Happy accidents normally occur when you allow yourself the chance to fail. Perfection is a myth.
