Location
It was taken at our local dog shelter where I worked as a volunteer for several years.Time
It was early morning.Lighting
It was shot in a dark-ish kennel, so not much light available. I tried to get as much out of it as possible to get the perfect capture.Equipment
Just my cameraInspiration
I worked as a volunteer in our dog shelter for years. I also connected my photography passion to it, because nothing helps animals in need to find a new home like a great photo...this particular dog came from very bad conditions, I wanted to capture the essence of it and draw the viewer's attention to her sad eyes. The goal was to evoke emotion and compassion.Editing
The only thing I did was take out the shadows and make the dog's face bright and visible. It was shot on higher ISO due to the low light, but it turned out okay either way so I didn't feel the need to tamper with it more.In my camera bag
My Canon EOS T3Rebel, Canon 50mm-1,8 and a cleaning brush for lensesFeedback
With photographing animals, the only advice Id give, is to wait for it....wait for the perfect expression, and let the animal tell you by themselves. Because that's the magic.... Letting the photo speak for itself.
