Location
This photo was taken in Nebraska (USA) near my hometown a year ago with an ugly storm rolling in. I drove out on a country backroad & got ahead of it as it was coming in.Time
It was taken in the evening hours just before sundown. I can't recall exact time now. It stays light pretty late during the summers around here.Lighting
I truthfully wasn't thinking of lighting when I took this shot. I was headed back to the highway to get home. This particular photo was a spontaneous moment. I was standing outside my car at this spot & watching the storm & suddenly noticed the light from the sun off to the left of me as this big dramatic storm was rolling in & it struck me as very stark & dramatic. It was a moment of being in the right spot at the right moment without any planning.Equipment
Actually this photo was merely taken with my Galaxy S10 Cellphone.Inspiration
I love taking photos of storms when a good one rolls in & this one had the potential to be a dramatic one. I also just love photography. Its my passion & therapeutic.Editing
I used a HDR camera app called HDR Max & I just lessened the strength & detail enough that it would look more natural & not overdone. I only slightly strengthened the color a little bit.In my camera bag
I own a Canon Rebel t6 in my actual camera bag with 18-55mm lens & 75-300mm zoom lens. I also have some micro & macro lenses, a cleaning kit I carry & a tripod.Feedback
Be aware of the possible severity of the incoming storm & make sure you have shelter to get into before it hits if it is severe. This storm was severe with high winds, driving rain, lightning & some hail. I got this shot just before it hit & got back to my house just in time & it let loose. So be mindful of severity & timing. I have taken a class to be familiar with storm clouds & that helps tremendously. It also is important to be familiar with the area as well before going out to take photos of a storm.
