Location
This photo was taken in the very small rural town of Mayfield, Utah. Much of the town is made up by farmers, ranchers and the like. Silos and wheel lines pop up at every turn. Its quaint, and cold, during winter.Time
These were taken in the last fading light of a late-winter evening drive. Utah's winters are cold, and often overcast, but the weather was working some magic on this evening, and to think I very nearly did go out!Lighting
Sunset's last rays is what I prefer, and it is what I got for this shot. The snow on the ground reflected plenty of light back up onto the scene, mitigating deeper shadows.Equipment
This was a handheld shot, on the Fujifilm xt20, using the Rokinon 12mm lens.Inspiration
Cabin fever gets to me real bad during winter. So often I never get to go out and shoot at all during Utah's cold winter months. I saw out my wind that a fleeting window of good light was coming, and I didn't want to waste it.Editing
Some adjustments to clarity and white balance in Lightroom is the extent of my editing. In my camera bag
I carry a full fuji kit. XH1, XT20. For glass I bring along a 12, 16, 35, and a 50-230. I often have my tripod, but rarely use it during the day except for a long exposure. I also bring along my Parrot Anafi, my faithful hiking drone. Not much I can't do with this kit.Feedback
This kind of image comes from scowering the countryside to find the subject material. I look high and low, near and far. I look for decaying things, and then shoot them when the light is good.
