The lighting is all from the low golden sun which caught the sides of the boats nicely and produced warm shades on the water and mist.Equipment
Shot with Canon 6d with EF70-300mm L USM lens handheld.Inspiration
I liked the way the sun catches the mist at that time of day, the 5 boats formed a nice line and looked great against the brown shore line in the background. The single duck was a bonus, everything just looked right for this picture.Editing
I cropped, a little bit of sharpening and split toned to warm the image shadows and highlights this made the image look like a sepia photo, complimenting the golden browns in and around the lake.In my camera bag
I have a lightweight tripod as I don't like to have too much weight to carry. Canon 6d, Canon EF24-70mm L, Canon 70-300 L and a Canon nifty EF50. 10 stop ND filter. Timer release.Feedback
Get up early in the morning! Mist is quite often found coming off from lakes when the air temperature is cooler than the warm lake during the autumn months. Look for odd numbers of objects, colours that work well together. In low light, up your ISO to minimise camera shake. Breath out and gently squeeze the button when shooting.
