Location
This photo was taken in a villa we had rented for 4 days in Bali, it was on the patio. Julia is a full time model.Time
Taken between 10: and 11:00, bright but not searingly hot.Lighting
It was taken in daylight in the shade of the villa, lots of white walls which helped to get a fairly even light.Equipment
Used a Sony AR7ii with a Sony Zeiss GE 90mm f2.8 Macro lens. Hand held no reflectors other than the walls. ISO 200, F2.8 at 1/1000 of a second.Inspiration
I knew I wanted to take this shot before I arrived (wasn't expecting so much "wild" hair), that's why I had the Hasselblad with me. I tend not to use props much, but I feel cameras are part of the shoot, so why not include them.Editing
Cropped, changed to B&W, shadow up, highlights down, slight vignetting. All done in Lightroom CC.In my camera bag
Changes, if with a bag then a Hasselblad 500 ELM with 150mm f4 and a Leica Q2, film, lens wipes, spare SD cards, spare batteries.. But when travelling, it's just a Leica Q2Feedback
To get the lighting right, hold you hand out and look for where the shadows occur.
