Behind The Lens

Location

This image as taken Parklands Studio is a private photographic studio and location, based in Hinckley, Leicestershire UK owned by Joel Hick who is actually the model in this shoot as well.

Time

This was shot in the evening around 6 pm

Lighting

No flash was used in this particular image, the sun was tp the right with the model in light shade

Equipment

The camera was a Sony A7RIII with a Sony 70-200 F4 lens, no tripod but the rear screen was used due to the low angle to the water.

Inspiration

This was my first shoot with the Sony A7R3 I've always been a Nikon shooter but wanted to invest in mirrorless as well, I'd been struggling to come up with the idea before this shoot as I'd been busy with other things so was quite spontaneous really. The Studio has about 13 acres of grounds which include ponds so this seemed like a good use for the pond on a nice warm day. The lighting and mood just seemed to be right for this image so was pleased with the end result.

Editing

This image was edited in Lightroom only and actually required little post-process apart from a pre-set I used we give an acid wash effect which really brought out the feeling I was looking for.

In my camera bag

So I either pack my Sony A7RIII or my Nikon D850 depending on if I'm working in natural light or studio, for outdoor action and studio work I prefer using my D850 with prime lens, for example, Sigma Art 50, 85 & 105mm. For natural lighting, I really enjoy using the Sony due to the EVF and eye autofocus. But I'd be hard-pressed to really favor one over the other as both are fantastic camera's

Feedback

The model and location are important in this case a shallow depth of field and low angle as close to the water as possible really helped with this shot. The camera setting: 200mm, F4, 1/200, ISO 250
