Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken on the beach in Richards Bay KZN, South Africa. A group of us photographers went to shoot the sun rise before we started the main shoot consisting of vintage as well as sports cars and models. Great fun!

Time

We all met up on the beach around 5am with our gear and flasks of coffee. It was a rather chilly morning too.

Lighting

Well all credit goes to the sun, it was so golden and magical and a fellow tog just happened to be standing in the perfect spot. I didnt have to work hard for this image at all, I was in the right place at the right time.

Equipment

This was taken a while back when I still only had my old faithful Nikon D3100 with its stock 18-55mm 3.5 DX lens.

Inspiration

I have always been a fan of silhouette shots, and what better silhouette than that of my greatest passion in life - Photography.

Editing

None what so ever. This shot is straight out of the camera.

In my camera bag

Well back then I was a real amateur having been self taught with gear I could afford at the time. Now days I carry my Nikon D850 with the Nikon 35mm 1.4 and Tamron 24-70 2.8. Spare battery and storage along with a filter or two.

Feedback

This type of shot can be captured many ways as long as you have a good light source. You can discover magic while you play around with and get to know your camera.
