This shot was captured at "Sun N Fun" in Lakeland Florida in 2018 It is one of the largest airshows in the country and a fantastic event to hone your skills!Time
Shot was mid afternoon probably around 3pmLighting
This was a day of clear blue skies, which can be a blessing and a curse!Equipment
shot on a Canon Eos DX mk1 with a Sigma 150-600 zoom at about 450mm 1000iso 1/2000th sec @ f10 hand held.Inspiration
I love aviation, and the goal for me is to try to capture the low pressure vapor off of the wings during "Hi G" maneuvers and the glow of the afterburner! I think that is why this photo has attracted the attention that it has.Editing
I always shoot in RAW and therefor always do some post processing, most often with Lightroom. In my camera bag
Eos 1dx, Eos 5Ds, Canon 70-200 f2.8, Canon 24-105 f4, canon 85 f1.2 Sigma 35mm f1.4 art, Sigma 12-24 f4.5 and a couple of extenders and speedlites. I carry the 150-600 in its own bag. If my trip doesn't involve too many steps I often drag a small buggy for my gear especially at airshows as my bag tops out at around 45lbs and it gets a little heavy after a long day in the hot Sun!Feedback
Smooth panning and practice, practice, practice....the beauty of digital over film is it's FREE....back in the "old" days you could spend a small fortune on film at an airshow and have very little to show for your effort at the end of the day!
