Location
This Photograph was taken about 45Kms from my residence. Place is near Railway station named Hadapsar on Pune-Chennai line on Indian Railway.Time
My most loved Image especially after converting from Color to Black & White. Taken on January 2008 at 8.25 Morning.Lighting
It was winter of January 2008. Capturing the foggy atmosphere was really a difficult part while shooting. My 30 years of experience came handy. I took advantage of shadow to capture this image while avoiding direct sunlight entering my lens. Because of against light, the shinning railway tracks, disappearing in fog add to the depth of field. Over and above the key-man walking into the fog makes image more mysterious as well as lively.Equipment
Camera- Nikkon D-300 SLR, Lens- Nikkor 24-120MM @120, ISO 200, Exposure-1/125Sec, F Number-11. Pattern Metering. Handheld, Manual Pre Focusing. No Flash Light used.Inspiration
At this time of the year, between Dec-Feb, the place is densely populated with migratory birds. It was a one-day trip to photograph them. After the shoot, while returning on foot, I saw this location where the bright railway tracks were disappearing in thick fog at the horizon which itself was inspirational. But I wanted some life in it. To my luck, after a wait of approximately 45minutes to 1 hour, a key-man arrived at the scene. Draped in dark, the man was walking with his track key, checking on each nut bolt to ensure they are tightened. His concentration, dedication towards his task in itself narrating a story. He had made my day. He was my subject.Editing
Yes, original image was in color, hence I had to convert it in to Black & White which was done thru Photoshop CS-3 and +Tiffen Digital filter DFX V-3.In my camera bag

Patience is the Virtue. At times you do have to wait for the nature to come into action. May it be bird photography or landscape or nature. Light plays a key role in a good photograph. Sometimes you might get the best shots at dawn or dusk, when the critical lighting is there for the least of time.Patience is the Virtue.
