This was taken in my front yardTime
This was first thing in the morning. I love the days we have frost and always run out with my camera as soon as the first sunlight starts to peek into our property but before it has time to melt the frost.Lighting
This was done with natural light. I try, when possible to use natural light when outside. The sun was to the side and had a soft rosy glow about it.Equipment
This was just taken with my camera and a macro lens.Inspiration
My own property is the best place to take photos because I can just look out the window and see that the light and conditions are right. Macros and frost are fascinating to me so I tend to walk around and take a lot of photos. I loved how the front mostly just clung to the edges of this leaf, giving it a natural outer glow.Editing
I rarely do any post processing. I don't remember if I did anything on this image, but if I did it was a little bit of saturation punch and maybe some sharpening. In my camera bag
I always have my camera (obviously), a macro lens and a 20-200 lens. Depending on what I think I'll be shooting, I'll also carry my 500 mm but it's really heavy. I generally carry a polarizer and a micro fiber cloth. If it will be dark, I'll carry a couple of flashes and my cowboy studio remote set up, as well as a bunch of batteries.Feedback
Don't be afraid to fill the frame with whatever has captured your interest. Too many photos are so far back that it's hard to see what grabbed the attention of the photographer. Trying to isolate an image by finding one that is far enough forward that you can blur the back. Also, pay attention to what is behind the image competing for attention.
