Roosevelt Gate, created by an Act of Congress on 01 March 1872, stands at the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Established by President Theodore Roosevelt, it was our first national park. The words that tower over all who pass through this gate serve to remind us that public lands belong to the people.

Thank you, Gail. I saw the gate for the first time last summer. Even though I had seen it several times in Ken Burns' series on the national parks, seeing it in person was truly touching. Especially knowing how the parks are under attack right now.
