Magical Kenya Maasai Mara National Reserve Sunset

Behind The Lens

Location

The image was created at a small man-made forest known as Karirana located at Limuru, Kiambu County in Kenya.

Time

This was at 4 pm during the day since we had to rush to another open-air location for the Sunset

Lighting

I used one light, the jinbei HD 600 for the main light, at 90° and since the weather was to calm and the sun the other hand wasn't helping because of an overcast, I had to use the gelled speed light CTO to create sunset effects hence lighting my background and creating the separation between the subject and the background.

Camera Canon 6D Jinbei HD 600 Speedlight Yangnio IV Softbox on the Jinbei CTO on the flash

Inspiration

To break the monotomy of photographing ladies, yes it is always fun photographing ladies, but most rarely do men dress up on their best suit for the photoshoot, the shoot was to make the average men they can look good too on the camera with good direction.

Editing

Yes, I love the post, but on this one, I didn't go crazy since I only played with basics slides on the lightroom and increased clarity to bring masculinity, I didn't remove the blemishes on them, left their faces as natural as possible.

In my camera bag

My to-go gear is always Canon 5D MKIV, the 35mm f1.4 lens with a combination of the 85mm f1.2 and the Yangnuo Speedlight IV and the tripod Manfrotto just in case I want to go extra on my shoot

Feedback

Always be watching and learn light. Take advantage of the light where you go. manipulate the light as much as possible since it is all about the direction of the light which matters most. never be afraid to try something new since safe is boring.
