Location
At the Baltic Sea in northern Germany there is an almost lost beach at the peninsula Darß called the Westbeach. There is no road to the beach. You have to go or come by bicycle. That is the reason that there are not always many people. The beach has very fine sand and the pine trees at the beach are falling from time to time, depending on the weather conditions. That makes the landscape so unique.Time
We were there in February. The sun came down about 5 pm. This was the time we were walking on that beach and I took the photo.Lighting
This photo is only lit by the sun.Equipment
I used a tripod of course, because I wanted to make a long exposure using a neutral density filter. This is one of the last photos I took with my old Canon EOS 600 and a Sigma 17-70 lens.Inspiration
That is the landscape itself. I love the sea and especially that beach in summer or in the winter.Editing
I developed the photo in Lightroom, highlights and blacks, some contrast, some cropping and the usual sharping, not much more.In my camera bag
There is now a 100 mm macro lens, a 24-70 zoom lens, my 14 mm manual lens and a 70-400 f4 Sony lens, one to three flashes, a 60 cm folding reflector, my camera of course, a ND and a polarizer filter, a little torch, memory cards, batteries etc.Feedback
I have been many times at this place but could´t make anytime such a photo. It depends on the light, the clouds, the weather. So you have to be patient, coming in different times of the year or be a lucky one coming one time and find such conditions... These moments are not lasting long so be prepared and know what are you want. Have your ND filter at hand, the tripod is very necessary and be careful withe the composition. You need a foreground. Without that fallen tree in the foreground the picture would not be half as good. And need the lines in the composition that are leading into the picture.
