Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at my home, on my terrace with the violin lying on a table.Time
The photo was taken in the afternoon on a sunny day.Lighting
I used the daylight, the sun was shining. I brought my violin and placed it on the table and used a dark backdrop. I also used a white cardboard to create some backlight.Equipment
I used my Panasonic DMC-GH2 using a 50 mm lens from Nikon which I added with on adapter. I used a tripod and the self-timer because I had to position my finger under the string within ten seconds. It was a bit challenging to set the focus in advance exactly where the finger will touch the string, so I had to do many trials.Inspiration
I was participating at a photo competition and was looking for ideas and inspiration for the theme of the competition named: "flexibility". I was doing some research and came upon a photo where someone pulled out the string of a guitar. I then had the idea to try it out with my violin because I thought it fits quite good to the theme.Editing
I did only some adjustments for the background, to get it darker and did some adjustments for the shadows and sharpened some areas. After that I converted the photo into black and white. In my camera bag
My Lumix GH2 from Panasonic with a 13-42 mm lens from Panasonic, a 45-200 mm lens from Panasonic, a 50mm lens from Nikon which I use with an adapter and to it sometimes a close up 52mm close up lens from Canon.Feedback
I love to use daylight, and don't give up in just trying out different angles.
