Elder Jeffrey R. Holland (Apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) taught that the tree of life is a symbol of Jesus Christ. He said: “The images of Christ and the tree [are] inextricably linked. … At the very outset of the Book of Mormon, … Christ is portrayed as the source of eternal life and joy, the living evidence of divine love, and the means whereby God will fulfill his covenant with the house of Israel and indeed the entire family of man, returning them all to their eternal promises” (Christ and the New Covenant [1997], 160, 162).

Location
Draper City Park, Draper, Utah, USA. Each year around Christmas Time Draper City decorates this tree in their city park to resemble the Tree of Life from a story in The Book of Mormon.Time
This photo was taken around 8pm when there are big groups that come and see the tree in the middle of December.Lighting
Obviously with it being so dark I took this photo with a tripod and longer exposure. The Tree is just so illuminating and lights up the darkness all around.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon 3200 using a tripod.Inspiration
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, like most Utah Families. And we believe in The Book of Mormon. There is a story in The Book about “The Tree of Life.” I really wanted to come photograph here to create an image that represented the story. The book is very important to me and I loved how the image turned out.Editing
Yes, I use Camera Raw and Photoshop to increase the contrast, color correct, and get rid of any other lights in the background. The park is located in the middle of a neighborhood so with the long exposure other Christmas lights from homes were visible at first. In my camera bag
I vary my camera body, three lenses, a tripod, and flash. The basics.Feedback
Use a tripod to capture the sharpness of the think you’re trying to photograph especially when it’s in such a dark environment. Move around and try to get many different angles. This was the result of probably 15 shots and 4th spot I shot from. Be willing to move around and go with your gut.
