I found out a few years ago that Poppy's don't always grow again in the same place each year. This year I managed to get it all together within a week and I was happy with the result

I have been trying to get this shot for around 4 years now and each time I find a poppy field I mark it on my map of a place of interest to set up the shoot for the following year. Much to my disappointment, poppies do not always come back in the same place each year. This year I found this beautiful field of poppies In a place called Crick on the border of Northampton and Warwickshire.Time
It was around 5pm so the sun was setting to give great light for the shotLighting
It was hot that day the sun was very bright, I had to wait until nearly Sunset to get the right lighting.Equipment
Canon D60 No tripod 17-85mm canon lens, canon speed flashInspiration
I drove past a poppy field one day and it looked amazing then I came up with this idea that I would like to pay Tribute to the millions of people who gave their lives So that future generations could have a better life.Editing
I increased the contrast and shadows in Raw. I then used Tapaz Adjust to bring out a little more detail. In my camera bag
Canon D1000, Canon D60, Speedlight, Tripods and my faithful 50mm lens.Feedback
Plan and plan again, the window for taking shots with flowers during summer can be short, find out as many ch as you can about the flowers in the shot to help you get the best shot. I always find shooting in the afternoon is better for this kind of shot the sun give the clouds and nice pinky orange glow and casts nice shadows on the clouds. Always try to get permission from who ever owns the lands too, the last thing you want is the farmer coming to clear you off half way through a shoot.
