First you have to respect the power of lightning, and then Enjoy it! Always "try" to be safe, I have had a few close calls!Equipment
Cannon Rebel T5, with my cannon 55mm lens, on a tripod and i was using a remote shutter release in bulb modeInspiration
My love for capturing the power and beauty of mother nature, as well as the fury of the Gulf of MexicoEditing
Post processing I adjusted sharpness, clearity, contrast, and exposure a littleIn my camera bag
I carry a polorizer,nd6,nd8, remote shutter release,flash,spare batteries,memory cards,mini tripod,roll of electronic tape,lens cleaner,q-tips,misc StuffFeedback
Be patient, and be safe, have weather apps on your phone like radar scope to know the weather, wait out the storm because they go thru phases and on this night I watched bolts the entire ride to the beach and when I got there it stopped for the first 15 min, then the storm got fueled by the warm Gulf waters and it exploded for 2 awe struck hours of photography! Always play with your camera settings till you get it right. I don't use a lightning trigger,I think it would take the fun out of it, I put my camera on a tripod, in bulb mode and use a open shutter until the bolt strikes, then I reset and do it all over and over again until the storm is over, it'd so exciting to download my memory card and see the magic I caught.... be careful because it's really easy to catch the lightning Bugs, I can't wait till the next storm here in Lightning Alley Spring Hill Florida
