Location
We had been exploring Emmetts Gardens and Ide Hill that day and going to Chipstead in Seven Oaks on April 2016, was an afterthought. We walked on the bank of the river Darent and as I turned around I saw this view.Time
This was taken just before blue hour at sunset.Lighting
The light was just beautiful that evening as I managed to take several other great photos and reflections.Equipment
I used a standard Nikon Kit D60 which was about to retire and the photo was taken without any supporting equipment.Inspiration
Sunsets are generally captivating, what I saw was a brilliant orange reflection on the river Darent with a blue cloud bank and reflection. I love landscapes in art and saw the balance and vitality of this photo come alive, it just had to be captured.Editing
I lost the original hard drive and the only backup of this photo was a low quality image I had stored on Googles photo storage. Using photoshop I had to try and keep the original perspective without to much loss in clarity and bring out the colours. Originally I felt the exercise was a failure, however the picture has all the right elements of balance and decided to submit it on viewbug. Had I been pedantic about technical quality this photo would have been hidden with thousands of others that will probably never be seen by anyone else, however I am enthusiastic about the story a picture tells rather than how technically perfect a picture is, particularly as I mostly use my photos as templates for my digital paintings. In my camera bag
My kit has been updated since 2016 and now use a Canon 90d as my default with a Canon 18-135mm lens as standard lens and a Sigma Contemporary is my birding lens. A full range of Prime and other Zoom Lenses with a range from 10mm to 600mm.My second camera is Pentax KP and 40mm pancake lens but also have many older vintage lenses. I generally keep my old cameras and have a large collection of 35mm and Digital SLR's.Feedback
Keep your eyes open and think about what you are seeing, look at the big picture first then scan in and out and often you will find pictures inside of pictures.
