Location
This was taken from a steep lava cliff, on the coast 3 miles west of Kalapana, Hi.Time
This was taken at dusk, under a full moon.Lighting
Great question! Lava flowing into the ocean at a dawn or dusk under significant moonlight, glows blues, purples, and/or pinks. This was at dusk with a full moon rising in the foreground, offering ample "blue" light on the lava cliff. Lastly, theses colors don't stick around, they're changing by the second.Equipment
Canon 7d, 70-200 mm L ii 2.8, manfrotto tripod. Exposure : 1/15 sec, f3.5, iso 100.Inspiration
Lava photography is my greatest passion. Especially at dawn and dusk, the colors are magical.Editing
Lava photography requires little effort in post processing. It's more about getting right the right shot in the field combined with your level of knowledge of your equipment. I do use Lightroom for subtle adjustments. In my camera bag
I always have: Canon 5. D Miii Canon 7D Mii Lenses: Canon 16-35 mm 2.8 L ii Canon 70-200 mm 2.8 L ii Plus filters for different lighting situations.Feedback
There are no limits! Photography is wonderful because you can always keep learning. Try everything , and them some! In my opinion, that's what gives us our individual style. Go ahead, break some (photo) "rules" and think outside of he box. Then find what you want your the most passionate about, gain knowledge, then go out and have fun getting your own results!
