Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the dining room of my home.

Time

It was taken during the afternoon of an overcast Buffalo Winter day.

Lighting

This was shot with natural light, my dining room bay window was behind me and is north facing.

Equipment

I used a Canon EOS Rebel T2i, EF 50mm F/1.2L USM.

Inspiration

My grandson was and still is one of my favorite subjects. I wanted to try a more styled shoot and used a brown throw as my backdrop, a children's pilot hat I had found and the scarf from his build a snowman kit.

Editing

I cleaned up his skin added a vignette and did some dodge and burn.

In my camera bag

Today I shoot with a Canon 60D and a Canon 5D Mark III. My Favorite lens is still the 50mm.

Feedback

I'm no expert and an all self taught photographer and I continue to learn every day. What benefited me the most was just to shoot as much as I could. Indoor, outdoor, different subjects and lighting conditions. I wish reading tutorials etc. would give me the same benefit but I'm a learn by doing type of person and the trial and error method has been most beneficial to me.
