Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken indoors. He is the son of a good friend of ours and I did this as a favour for them.

Time

This is one of my favourite shots of this guy. He is a very serious little boy who observes everything. This photo was taken mid morning indoors.

Lighting

This was shot mid-morning so lighting was perfect. It was taken in a well lit room with natural light.

Equipment

This was taken with my Nikon d7200 with my 18-205mm lens. No tripod was used or other equipment. The only thing else we used were the props, which in this case was the baseball and glove.

Inspiration

His mom and dad both play ball, it was his dad's glove and hat we used in this photo. I took this picture because I know someday he will play ball, like his parents.

Editing

I did not do a lot of post processing on this particular photo. It was shot in RAW so a bit of adjustment with colour is about all that was required.

In my camera bag

I always carry my Nikon d7200 with me along with a 50mm, 18-205mm, and 70-300mm lens in my camera bag. My camera goes everywhere with me, so having a variety of equipment allows me to capture a number of interesting shots. I do a lot of nature photography so the larger lens is very useful.

Feedback

When photographing young children you have to be quick and ready for anything. This little guy is always giving me the sly look, so I was ready for him.
