Location
The photo is taken at Kornstad, Averøy Municipality in Møre & Romsdal county, Norway.Time
This was the first snowfall of Winter 2015. Living close to the coast and usually the snow on the trees melts during daytime, but this time we had several days with amazing landscape filled with snow and frost. The old barn and the tree is a favorite of mine and i have taken photos during summer time before. This time i wanted to have a image of the barn and tree covered with snow. When i arrived there, i saw it was even more beautiful than i imagined. The photo is taken around 12.45.Lighting
Grey sky and not the best light, thankfuly the snowfall stopped for a little while when i took the photo.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D7100 and a Sigma 17-50 mm. Handheld.Inspiration
I've been at the same location earlier and when the first snowfall arrived i knew where to go. I love old buildings and also trees, here i got both in a wonderful combination. I had a big smile on my face the whole day!Editing
With this photo i only did brighten it a bit in Lightroom. In my camera bag
My Sigma 17-50 mm is the one i use the most, but i also bring my Tokina 11-16 mm. Another one i mostly bring with me is the Sigma 150-500 mm, heavy ..but i need it for birds and other animal photography. To carry all this and the tripod give me great exercise on top of a nice photo trip ;)Feedback
Best advice is to visit Norway during wintertime :) But, to be serious i guess it's all about searching the right locations, then be patient for the right moment. Sometimes you have to wait for the snowfall to stop or the right light to arrive. For winter shots, dress warm. Getting cold and have to go home before you finish the shoot is not fun. Most important, have fun and also enjoy the scenery/nature while you take pictures.
