Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken off the bank of Trillium Lake in the Mount Hood National Park in Oregon

Time

This photo was taken in the evening on my very first trip to Trillium Lake in November 2016

Lighting

All of the lighting for this photo is 100% natural with no flash or off-camera lighting at all!

Equipment

The equipment that I used for this photo was a tripod and my Nikon 7100 camera

Inspiration

I was looking for new and unique ways to photograph this location which shows many of Oregon's wonders all at once: The forest, Mount hood, and the beautiful picturesque water formations (Lakes).

Editing

For Post Processing, I was fairly lucky that all that was required was a white balance and lifting the exposure of the photo just a tad

In my camera bag

The equipment that I normally carry in my bad is my Sony a7iii, Sony 24-105 lens, lightweight tripod, several SD cards in an SD card holder, 2 back up batteries and cords to charge my phone (as well as any potentially needed cords for others phones), a sony off-camera flash, 8 backup batteries for flash, a backup camera battery as well as the charging cord and battery charging dock, camera cleaning kit, lens wipes, yellow microfiber cloth, a protective camera cover (For the rain) a pack of gum and a small snack either granola bar or bag of nuts, and a photo of my 2 beautiful daughters who are my inspiration every day to follow my dreams and continue my art, always.

Feedback

I recommend having patience in locations such as this as the clouds move quickly and where the mountain may be visible at first arrival you will find that the clouds will quickly cover the mountain but with patience then you will once again get a clear photo. I prefer a tripod that has a quick release so that I can take the camera off of the tripod and capture images from different angles. However, my most important advice as a landscape photographer is to NOT be afraid to test out new angles and get close to the ground. You will be surprised at how much a slight angle change will affect your images!
