I was walking on a horse trail a summer evening in Norco, California. I took my camera hoping to get some shots of people riding horses on the trail.Time
A few minutes before sunset.Lighting
This was taken in natural light. It was close to 8:30 pm and the sun was setting.Equipment
This was shot with my Canon EOS Rebel T3i using a 18-55 (kit) lens.Inspiration
Initially, what caught my eye, was the way the sun lit up the feathers on the bush. The bush was about waist level, so I held my camera out, close to the bush and clicked. Since the sun was going down fast, I only had time for a quick couple of shots. I honestly didn't capture the feathers they way I had hoped. Instead I feel like I got a better shot.Editing
Yes, I lightened up the shadows at the base of the bush in Lightroom. In my camera bag
Other than my camera, I usually have a 24-70mm 2.8 lens along with a 50mm prime lens, extra batteries, memory cards and a couple of flashes.Feedback
Sunset shots are often tricky because once the sun starts to set it goes pretty fast. This particular shot was not planned out. It is a photo of a common bush on the side of a horse trail. My advise to anyone is to bring your camera along when you can. There is beauty everywhere, even in the not-so-pretty things around you. I am really glad I had my camera with me that day. I took a simple walk near my home, and got one of my favorite shots.
