The sun was setting after a much needed thunderstorm. The dramatic clouds just captivated me, and led me to go chase after a perfect image...Equipment

This was one of my first recognized images...I was just beginning on my professional photographer journey, and the sunsets always captivated me. We had just had a much needed thunderstorm and rain, and I just knew the sunset was going to be amazing with all the contrasting clouds in the sky...So I got in my car, and took off down dirt roads I had not traveled, looking for something that caught my eye. As I pulled up on this spot, I'm almost upset to give up the mystery to this silhouette, as I've been asked by so many "how did you get them to pose like that...", well this is actually a piece of metal art, created by Bobby Kerr. It was a gate ornament, and as I pulled up on it...everything just aligned. I sat here in the drive until the sun was just where I wanted it...The painted sky canvas in all it's beauty, was the perfect background for this amazing piece of art. It gave me chills as I captured the image, knowing I had found something amazing... Just that urge to chase the sunset, in hope of finding a masterpiece...This is a night I will never forgot. I got so many amazing images of this sky, but this was and is still one of my favorite images. Not all masterpieces are perfectly planned, sometimes they just come together like they were meant to be. This image started off my photography career.Editing
Minor post processing in Lightroom 4, just a dash of vibrance. Nothing is Photoshopped, this is still one of the most amazing sunsets I have ever seen.In my camera bag
Now I carry a Canon 5d Mark III, 24-70 mm 2.8, 70-200 mm 2.8 II, and a Canon 580EXII Speedlight.Feedback
Planning could have help any photographer, but sometimes if you find something that moves you, you should always chase it!! I've taken several other silhouettes that were planned that I really like, but when God paints a canvas as amazing as this one, sometimes you just have to rely on Faith, to send you down the right road :)
