I took this picture in my studio. This little guy was my first newborn photo shoot. The parents were lovely and we did a great job keeping him content for his big day!Time
This photo was taken mid day in my garage that I converted to a studio. We were sweating to the oldies trying to keep him nice and warm and comfortable so he would sleep for his session.Lighting
I used external flash, nothing to special.Equipment
At the time I was using a Canon 60D with a tripod and my 50mm.Inspiration
I'm a little bit crafty and I made a few crochet hats. This hat and the barrel blended well in colors and his skin tone worked extremely well together. He was so sweet and angelic in this pose. I always try to adapt to the newborn's personality and let the baby lead me in what they are comfortable in doing.Editing
I did edit with with a preset called A-Game 2 from the Cole's Classroom series. In my camera bag
At this time in my photography I carry my Canon Mark ii, 50mm, 24-105mm, 100mm and a flash.Feedback
Patience! When dealing with an infant and props requires a great deal of patience. If the baby is not ready to placed or posed then the shot will not come out as you might plan it. Don't get frustrated if you cannot achieve one shot with specific props. The baby will let you know what he or she is ready to do. Keep your room temperature very warm. Always keeping the baby wrapped and snuggled between shots is a great help as well. Perseverance! Just keep trying, take a moment and try again. You will get the shot!
