Location
The photo was taken at an old dump site on the edge of someone's property. In the 60's it wasn't uncommon for people in the country to dispose of household trash at the edge of their property lines. Many have remained undisturbed for years. This particular site had many treasures such as pots, pans, canisters, old cars, appliances etc. If you are lucky enough to come across one of these sites, you may find some great photo opportunities.Time
The picture was taken around 10:00 am in late October.Lighting
It was a slightly overcast/cloudy day.Equipment
My camera was a d300s with a 54-300mm lens, handheld on a slightly overcast day.Inspiration
When I came across this gem in the woods I channelled some ideas inspired by Bryan Peterson and the movie Blair Witch.Editing
I did very little post processing on this photo. I used a lightroom sepia preset and moved a few sliders so that some color showed through. I liked it so well, I stopped before I got carried away. As they say, less is more.In my camera bag
When I go out in the woods, I usually have my Nikon 650 with an 80-400mm lens set to wide open so that I can quickly shoot any wildlife that pops up. I tuck a 50mm prime lens in my pocket in case I need something smaller. It is light and easy to carry.Feedback
When you come across something that strikes you as out of the ordinary, stop, take your time and shoot the crap out of it. When you think you have taken it from every possible angle with every possible setting/lens, you are probably about to take your best shot. Shoot it again.
