Behind The Lens

Location

I shot this photo at Coffs Harbour Jetty Beach.

Time

I managed to have some time before work one afternoon to sneak in a photo shoot.

Lighting

I was just in time to find the sunlight coming through the underside of the Jetty causing a glow around the pillars.

Equipment

I shot with a Canon EOS 7D with EF50mm f1.8 lens on a very sturdy tripod to handle the minutes of exposure time.

Inspiration

I wanted to shoot the Jetty in a new way, that others haven't tried yet.

Editing

I shot 7 frames and combined into HDR, then converted it to monochrome.

In my camera bag

My camera bag always has many batteries for the camera, AA batteries for speedlight, Canon Speedlight, 15-30mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, 85mm, 50mm lenses, and Kenko extension rings. Also filters - Polariser, ND, UV. Very important, cleaning cloth.

Feedback

Look at things in your neighbourhood that may be popular, or even overlooked, and then try to do something new with it. Try to capture it in a way that makes people look at it differently. Maybe long exposure, HDR or focus stacking, or even the opposite - very shallow depth of field. Experiment and use your imagination.
